ABOUT YABBY DAM FARMS

Nestled on the western outskirts of Ballarat in Cardigan, Victoria, Yabby Dam Farms is a premier Standardbred and Thoroughbred breeding, racing, and training operation. Established in 2015 by visionary breeder and trotting enthusiast Pat Driscoll, the farm has quickly become one of Australia’s most respected names in harness and thoroughbred racing.

At its core, Yabby Dam Farms is driven by a simple but powerful ambition: to breed and race world-class horses using the finest bloodlines from Australasia and the Northern Hemisphere. The property boasts state-of-the-art training and education facilities, with a strong emphasis on European techniques and philosophies—particularly for trotters.

Pat Driscoll’s passion for trotting was ignited during a trip to Paris, where a billboard promoting the prestigious Prix d’Amérique led him to attend the race and sparked a lifelong love of the breed. Inspired by the depth and professionalism of European trotting, Driscoll spent five years studying elite operations across Europe before laying the foundations for Yabby Dam Farms.

Under his leadership, the farm has delivered on its founding promise—producing and racing champions who have won the biggest trotting races across Australasia, as well as achieving success in Europe and the United States. Through Haras des Trotteurs, Driscoll also stands a world-class roster of trotting stallions, giving breeders access to elite global genetics.

Expanding his horizons, Driscoll has more recently turned his focus to the Thoroughbred industry. While still in its early stages, the Yabby Dam Farms thoroughbred program is already making an impact, working with leading trainers such as Ciaron Maher, Archie Alexander, Robbie Griffiths, and Andrew Bobbin, and building a broodmare band sourced from both Australia and overseas.

With its unique combination of passion, innovation, and performance, Yabby Dam Farms continues to be a driving force in shaping the future of both Standardbred and Thoroughbred racing in Australia and beyond.
