Yabby Dam Farms is proud to offer Thoroughbred ownership opportunities to the public, building on more than 12 years of experience in the racing industry. Our Director, Pat Driscoll, is a passionate breeder and owner, dedicated to growing the sport and making horse ownership more accessible.

Under the Yabby Dam brand, we breed and race both Thoroughbreds and Standardbreds, with our horses raised on the farm in Cardigan, Ballarat.

Our focus is on developing quality racing and breeding stock while opening the door for more people to get involved in ownership—at just a fraction of the cost of traditional models. Whether you’re a first-time owner or a seasoned racing enthusiast, Yabby Dam Farms is committed to sharing the thrill of racing with you.

LEASING WITH YDF

The Lessee signs up to the leasing program via Stable Connect with no upfront cost.

The Lessees then receive 100% of the prize money for their share. So if you take out a 10% leased share, you will receive 10% of the total prize money earned.

As per a normal lease agreement, you are obligated to pay all expenses in relation to the horse as per the leasing agreement documentation.

You get all the benefits of racing a horse without a huge outlay!

Yabby Dam Racing will also obtain a share in the leased horse, so we aren’t leasing out anything we wouldn’t race ourselves. This demonstrates our commitment to our leasing program and ensuring we maintain a stock of reasonably high-quality racing stock.

FAQ’S

  • The minimum share available is 2.5%

  • There are no upfront costs involved with leasing a horse through our program. The one costs you will be obligated to pay are the associated training expenses per the leasing agreement documentation.

  • No, Yabby Dam Farms still has full ownership of the horse in the proposed agreement. As a lessor, you lease the rights to race the horse for the duration of the lease.

  • As a lessor, you will receive the same benefits the club offers as if you were an ‘owner’. This includes but is not limited to entry to the course, access to owners areas, the chance to hear from the trainer and/or jockey post-race plus much more!
