Classic Connection’s relative wins fastest Breeders Crown elim

The stocks of the brilliant, young Love You horse Classic Connection, who is standing at the Goulburn Valley Equine Centre, Shepparton, under the banner of Haras Des Trotteurs, received a massive boost with the results of the Breeders Crown eliminations at Woodbine Mohawk Park, Ontario last Friday (October 17).

A very close relative of Classic Connection named Diabolic Hill led from go to whoa to effortlessly win the faster of the two $25,000 Breeders Crown eliminations for two-year-old colts and geldings in a new lifetime mark of 1:53.2.

The Muscle Hill colt carved out sectionals of 27.8, 30.2, 27.6 and 27.6 on the way to winning by 3-1/4 lengths without the driver Todd McCarthy even turning the whip.

Diabolic Hill will start from the No. 3 gate in next Saturday’s $700,000 Final.

A $300,000 Lexington sale purchase, Diabolic Hill has raced on eight occasions for four wins and two placings and $147,344 in stakes. He also finished a creditable fourth in the Grade 1 Mohawk Million from the outside post.

Diabolic Hill is out of Crysti Dream, a winning half-sister to the great racemare Crys Dream, the dam of Classic Connection. Crys Dream won three Grade 1 events as a two and three-year-old, banked $1.2 million, took a mile mark of 1:53.4 and was voted the USA and Canadian 2YO Filly Trotter of the Year.

Classic Connection has made rather a spectacular start to his siring career in Australia. From five starters in his first crop he has left four winners including the Listed Bob Conroy 2YO Classic victor and $75,000 Nutrien Equine Classic runner-up Afternoon Breeze, the NSW Foundation Series winner Cee Cee In Paris and the Nutrien heat placegetter and finalist Hammer.

A top flight juvenile himself, Classic Connection won the Group 1 German Breeders Crown as a three-year-old and two Group 2’s and five Group 3’s including the German Derby later in his career.

In all, he won 11 races and $614,631 in stakes and took a mile record of 1:54.1.

Classic Connection’s service fee is $3,500 plus GST in Australia and $4,000 plus GST in New Zealand.
