E L TITAN A HIT WITH HIS FIRST CROP AT YEARLING SALES
Australian-based Yabby Dam Farms stallion E L Titan US proved to be a hit with his first Southern Hemisphere crop at yearling sales across Australia and New Zealand this year.
E L Titan had 15 lots sell at an average of $31,333.
His highest-priced lots were a Ballyronan NZ filly for $90,000 and a Cyclone Jeter NZ filly for $70,000 - each sold at the Melbourne Nutrien Equine sale.
Each was consigned by Yabby Dam Farms.
E L Titan’s next highest price was a $NZ50,000 colt of out Reina Danzante in New Zealand, again for YDF.
Prominent harness racing figures Nathan Jack, Anti Ruokonen and Jess Tubbs were among buyers to pounce on E L Titan progeny.
Tubbs outlayed $40,000 for a YDF-bred filly out of Norquay at the Sydney Nutrien Equine sale.
Tubbs said the filly had first caught her eye in the paddock at Yabby Dam Farms.
“She had a lovely natural gait and that’s carried into her breaking preparation.
“She’s bold, strong and keen to learn, and most importantly she just trots.
“E L Titan seems to be leaving some lovely types - striking individuals with a lot of things to like about them,” Tubbs said.
Antti Ruokonen secured a filly out of French-bred mare Falaise Madrik for $30,000 at the Melbourne Nutrien Equine sale.
“I really liked this EL Titan from first day I saw her at Yabby Dam.
“El Titans can all trot and they are fast, easy going horses.
“They’re doing a really good job at the moment in North America.
“Hopefully a strong French family will bring some stamina for her and we will have some fun with her in the future,” he said.
Jack went to Karaka in NZ to purchase an E L Titan and then backed up in the Melbourne Nutrien Equine sale - $NZ50,000 for the Reina Danzante colt and $70,000 for the filly out of Cyclone Jeter.
“I’m super impressed with the E L Titans,” Jack said.
“Clients bought the colt in NZ and I was that impressed we had to buy another filly in Melbourne.
“They’re very smart and easy horses.
“I can’t wait for this time next year,” Jack said.
