IN RANGE – USA SIRING SENSATION
In Range (Bar Hopping – Ilia, by Windsong’s Legacy) has quickly established himself as one of the most exciting young trotting sires in the USA, making an immediate impact with his first crop to race in 2025.
In his first season with progeny on the track, In Range finished third on the USA 2025 two-year-old earnings list, behind only Chapter Seven and Captain Corey. It was an impressive achievement for a stallion who stood for a service fee of just $4,000, compared with Chapter Seven at $30,000 and Captain Corey at $8,000.
That breakout season was headed by Setyoursightshigh, the 2025 USA Two-Year-Old Trotting Filly of the Year and earner of $678,159, alongside Big Ranger, Demonic Niko and a growing group of first-crop winners.
Big Ranger has continued to enhance In Range’s reputation at three, finishing a narrow runner-up in the Hambletonian and recording a 1:50 track record, following a two-year-old season in which he earned $370,610.
The strength of In Range’s first crop is also evident in the diversity of his successful crosses. He has already sired winners from mares by Cantab Hall, Tactical Landing, Conway Hall, Full Count, Yankee Glide, Holiday Road, Father Patrick, Muscle Mass, Kadabra, Crazed, Muscle Hill, Andover Hall, Swan For All, Majestic Son and more.
Among them are Demonic Niko ($277,260), Rose Run Banker, Rose Run Brooke, Lucky Lady Volvo, Seven Lick Range, Hangtichthoney, Eckert Hill Brady, Range The Wish, Bobbie Mac, Rose Run Boom, Divvy It Up, Lynn Range, Heigh Brr Lady, Mile Range, Perfect Range, Ranger Rosie, Lacy Lucy and Short Range.
Bred to be a sire
A beautifully conformed and highly performed son of Bar Hopping, In Range combines some of the strongest influences in modern trotting breeding.
His dam, Ilia, is by Windsong’s Legacy and is the dam of eight foals for eight winners. In Range is also a half-brother to the excellent sire Long Tom, by Muscle Hill.
Following the success of his first crop, demand for In Range increased significantly. His 2026 USA service fee rose from $4,000 to $10,000, with his book fully subscribed in the USA. His frozen semen availability in Europe at $10,000 was also fully booked.
From a first crop that delivered an outstanding 2025 season to progeny continuing to perform at the highest level at three, In Range is building an impressive record as one of the emerging young sires of international trotting.
