Tracy The Jet and Commodus captured the Group 1 Need For Speed 3yo features at Melton on October 4.

Tracy The Jet blitzed her rivals in 1:55.2 over 1720m in the $60,000 Need For Speed Princess  Final.

She has won her past five starts for a career record of seven victories in 12 starts.

Commodus took out the $60,000 Need For Speed Prince Final in 1:56.8 - the colt’s sixth win.

Tracy The Jet is on target for the NZ 3yo trotting slot race, The Ascent, at Addington in Christchurch on November 14.

ON the subject of The Ascent, Yabby Dam Farms principal Pat Driscoll had a lot to be happy about with the way Gatesys Gems returned to racing at Melton on October 4.

A partnership of Driscoll and Aldebaran Park’s Duncan McPherson has secured Gatesys Gem to race in their slot.

Gatesy Gem was an impressive winner at Melton - her first start since May.

MEANWHILE, YDF-bred Parisian Artiste improved his hopes of securing a berth in the Dominion Trot in NZ next month with an eye-catching win at Menangle on October 4.

He ran a career-best 1:54.3 after rolling to the lead.

This lifted him three spots in ranking to 11, comfortably inside the cut-off of 15.
