As a three-year-old he captured four Group 1 victories, including the Derby Italiano del Trotto, Gran Premio Nazionale, Gran Premio Tito Giovanardi and Gran Premio Carlo Marangoni, before adding further Group 1 wins at four in the Premio Continentale and Premio Giuseppe Biasuzzi. He continued to compete at the highest level as an older horse, winning the Gran Premio Freccia d'Europa and both the heat and final of the Campionato Europeo, while recording Group placings in both France and Italy. Dimitri Ferm retired with 16 wins from 48 starts and earnings exceeding $1.6 million, showcasing exceptional speed, durability and consistency throughout his career.

By the proven sire Nad Al Sheba, Dimitri Ferm is out of the Goetmals Wood mare Tracy Chapman, whose five foals of racing age are all winners.
